Back in 2014, Sussex Air Imaging was commissioned to capture aerial footage of a major new development in West Sussex, the soon-to-open American Express Elite Football Performance Centre in Lancing.
Filmed just before its official launch, this footage offers a rare glimpse of the site in its final stages of preparation, before it became one of the most advanced football training facilities in the country.
Located near Lancing, close to Shoreham-by-Sea, the training complex was developed for Brighton & Hove Albion FC as a long-term investment in elite performance.
The American Express Elite Football Performance Centre officially opened in June 2014, representing a £32 million commitment to the club’s future.
This project highlights the unique value of drone and aerial filming — documenting a site at a key moment in its history.
Sussex Air Imaging was able to produce a full overview of the scale and layout along with a powerful film and high-impact visuals for marketing and PR.
Today, this footage serves as a visual record of how the site looked before becoming fully operational — something that simply wouldn’t be possible from ground-level photography alone.
Projects like this demonstrate why aerial content is so valuable for large-scale developments.
Whether it’s a sports facility, housing project, or commercial site, drone footage can capture progress over time, provide compelling marketing visuals and showcase scale in a way traditional photography cannot.
For developers, councils, and organisations, it’s an essential tool for both documentation and promotion.
